Timber Veneer

A play between positive components and negative space, a partition is formed by bonding cut panels to strips of veneer, leaving apertures between the 2 elements where corners of the panels are curved. We used bleached figured Sycamore for the panels and stained Oak veneer for the bent strips that measure 7mm in thickness. The strips are formed by laminating sheets of 1.2mm thick oak veneer. While being delicate to look at, these strips are in fact the structural members holding the panels together to form the overall vertical panel. 6 of these form the complete room partition.
